The refuge can be reached in 3 hours from the St. Hubertus Chapel in the Wolayer Valley or in 3.5 hours from the Lower Valentinalm on the Plöcken Pass. Whoever is hiking on the Carnic High Altitude Trail reaches the Wolayersee Refuge from the Hochweißsteinhaus in 6 hours; and from the eastern Zollnersee Refuge in 9 hours.
